MICR toner cartridges are used by businesses and organizations to print their own checks. Magnetic Ink Character Recognition is the technology your bank uses to scan the MICR line located at the bottom of checks and on financial documents. The MICR line is printed with toner containing magnetite (iron-oxide), the E-13B MICR Font and contains the account number, transit number, institution number, check number and occasionally the amount value. This data is used throughout the transaction in order to withdraw funds from the correct account. Anyone can use a printer to fill in check amount, date and payee data, but MICR toner is required to print the MICR lines.
